A great piece on CBS Sunday Morning yesterday about knitting and the hand made gift revolution!  Thought it was weird they would do a piece on this just after we had our knitting and crochet classes... more of those to come by the way, if you missed them.  Enjoy!

Happy Girls's Day!!!

Happy Girls' Day!

The Japanesese Doll Festival (雛祭り, Hina-matsuri), or Girls' Day, is today, March 3!

Traditionally,
platforms covered with a red carpet are used to display a set of
ornamental dolls the represent the Emperor, Empress, and royal subjects
in traditional attire.
The custom of displaying dolls began because people believed that dolls were able to trap bad spirits. Straw hina
dolls were set afloat on a boat and sent down a river to the sea,
taking troubles and bad spirits with them, and helping to protect the
safety of children.

Hugs
